He brings a broad range of professional experiences to this role as a physician executive and an acknowledged industry authority in the digital & biomolecular transformation of healthcare.
Fred’s focuses professionally on creating ‘learning loops’ in healthcare, where evidence-based practice feeds practice-based evidence in a virtuous cycle, and where the insights gained from every clinical encounter are leveraged by healthcare as an industry.
In the domain of clinical informatics & analytics, Fred has led market strategy efforts in analytics for Oracle Health Sciences, EHR product strategy for GE Healthcare in the UK, and has held CMIO & COO level roles in healthcare systems. In the domain of translational research & precision medicine, Fred founded the P4 Medicine Institute in Seattle with Lee Hood, and has led product strategy for McKesson in personalized medicine.
Fred’s clinical background is in general surgery and preventive medicine. He received a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Life Sciences, an MD and residency training from the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, and a Masters in Public Health degree from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
