Robert Ochs, PhD

Dr. Robert Ochs, PhD is the Director of the Division of Radiological Health within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Dr. Ochs received his PhD in Biomedical Physics from the University of California, Los Angeles. His division leads pre-market, compliance, and post-market surveillance activities to regulate both radiological medical devices (e.g., CT, MRI, mammography, ultrasound, radiation therapy systems, and image analysis software) and non-medical radiation emitting products (e.g., lasers, microwaves). Members of his division also actively participate in regulatory science research projects, policy development, international standards development, and professional committees to protect and promote public health and advance safe and effective medical devices.
