Yan W. Asmann, PhD


Dr. Yan Asmann is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Dr. Asmann developed and published many methods/algorithms for omics data analyses and integration. She has worked in cancer research and collaborated with both clinicians and basic scientists for over 15 years, including multiple immunotherapy research projects and clinical trials. 

 

Dr. Asmann is the co-creator and co-leader of the Mayo Clinic Neoantigen Vaccine Therapy Program, and co-PI of multiple Investigational New Drug (IND) trials and a phase-I solid tumor basket trial using Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor and neoantigen vaccine combination therapies. In addition, Dr. Asmann directs the Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Data Management Core of a multi-center U19 grant studying the role of APOE in Alzheimer’s disease, and co-directs the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core of Mayo Clinic Multiple Myeloma SPORE. She also leads the data science team of the Cancer Regenerative Medicine, Biotherapeutics, andBiomanufacturing Program of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. 

 

Dr. Asmann’s current research focus on developing and optimizing deep learning and AI methods and applying them to omics analytics, including spatial multiomics integration. In addition, Dr. Asmann has published multiple papers on omics data disparity assessment and its impact on clinical practice.
