Zeynep H. Gumus, PhD

Dr. Zeynep H. Gümüş is an Associate Professor is at the Department of Genetics and Genomics; the Precision Immunology Institute; and the Thoracic Oncology Center at the Tisch Cancer Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She also holds an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment at the Department of Medicine at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Dr. Gümüş earned her PhD from Princeton University and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, as well as the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

The research team of Dr. Gümüş develops and applies methods and tools to identify genetic drivers of cancer risk, progression or therapy response, with a specific focus on lung cancer. To understand such genetic factors, her team pursues new routes to analyze, integrate and explore diverse, massive and heterogeneous genomics datasets by utilizing genomic epidemiology, computational genomics and ultrafast computing. She has a broad background in computational cancer genomics, specifically in analysis of massive sequencing data in genomic epidemiology studies.
