David Fenstermacher, PhD


David Fenstermacher is currently Senior Director of Research and Medical Affairs at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.  He has more than 30 years of research experience as a molecular biologist, geneticist and bioinformaticist ln both academia and industry. 

 

The latter half of his career focused on desiging and leading the implementation of numerous bioinformatics and biomedical informatics distributed computing systems to support basic, translational, and clinical research, including multiple institution research projects. Other projects included the design of a data warehouses to integrate patient-level clinicogenomics data, population genomics (genome-wide association studies, massively parallel sequencing, array-based technologies) and other ‘omics data to support studies focused on cancer and other human diseases.  Most recently, his research focused on developing informatics resources to support precision medicine, drug discovery and development, FAIR Data architectures, genomics, and digital health.

David received a B.S. in Biology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Outside the office, enjoy walking/hiking, scuba diving, travel, sports, and cooking.
