The Paul A. Fearn Young Professional Keynote will be granted to an eligible Postdoctoral, Graduate student, or Young Professional concentrating on advancements in the realms of Informatics, human-computer interaction, or entrepreneurship and innovation in Data Science within the field of Oncology.


This annual keynote, named in honor of Dr. Paul A. Fearn, is designed to spotlight the top posters from each symposium poster session, with the winning presentation receiving special recognition. The chosen awardee will receive a modest stipend to support their ongoing research initiatives, furthering their Data Science endeavors in tribute to Dr. Paul A. Fearn's legacy. Additionally, the registration fee for the subsequent symposium will be waived.


Dr. Fearn, a respected leader in Cancer Informatics, contributed significantly to the field, not just through his extensive technical expertise but also by employing a blend of creative strategy, innovative approaches, and empathetic insight. As a strong advocate for young professionals and students, he fostered an environment that nurtured new skills and instilled the confidence needed to advance professional careers. Dr. Fearn provided unwavering guidance and support not only to his team but also to many others he encountered, promoting innovation and openness across various fields. He believed in free thought and encouraged novel, sometimes unconventional, ideas.


Ci4CC remains committed to supporting early career students and professionals aspiring to develop creative and innovative cancer informatics solutions. Our objective is to assist in building and enhancing technologies, processes, and tools that not only engage but empower patients, contributing to the advancement of cancer research.
