The Future of Cancer Data

"The Connected Oncology Ecosystem"

25th Cancer Center Informatics Society Summit — Shaping the Future of Translational Research and Cancer Care

Chaired by the City of Hope's (COH) NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the 25th Cancer Center Informatics Society (Ci4CC) Summit convenes national leaders from academia, industry, government, and patient advocacy to explore how an interconnected cancer data ecosystem can transform translational research and clinical care. As oncology increasingly relies on data-driven decision-making, the summit will examine how multi-modal data assets—from wearables and observational datasets to population-level resources, patient-reported outcomes (PROs), clinical trials, cancer registries, and survivorship studies—can be integrated into a cohesive learning environment. Sessions will highlight the importance of interoperability and seamless integration across clinical, research, and operational systems to enable real-time insights at the point of care.

The summit will also address the future role of AI in oncology, as well as federated data models and data sharing, including the opportunities and challenges related to privacy, governance, and scalability. Perspectives from NCI programs, NIST initiatives, life science companies, industry partners, and health systems—including NCI-designated and community-based cancer centers—will help frame the evolving landscape of collaboration, complemented by examples of emerging alliances and national initiatives. Central to the discussion will be the patient voice, incorporating perspectives on data use, regulatory considerations, and state-level policies to ensure innovation remains grounded and balanced. Together, the summit aims to define the infrastructure, partnerships, and standards needed to accelerate innovation and discovery, advance precision oncology, and improve outcomes for patients nationwide.
